Answer to the Fall 2007 Music Quiz
Thank you for participating in the Fall 2007 Music Quiz. A secret piece of music was chosen to close the Miami Symphony Orchestra's 2006-2007 season. We were offering 10% off a 2007-08 subscription to the first ten people who guessed the correct date of the composition.
The correct answer was Meditacion (Meditation) for String Orchestra, composed in 1912, by Venezuelan composer Vicente Emilio Sojo. The hints given on our web page were the initials of the composer V.E.S. and the spam of time when it could have been written between 1840 and 1921. We only had one winner, Lorenzo Rodriguez from North Miami who wasn't sure of the period when the music was written since, according to him, it bears a rather eclectic style. However Mr. Rodriguez paid close attention to the numbers 1840 and 1921 and realized that both added to 13. In addition, the only other year that adds to 13 between 1840 and 1921 is, in fact 1912. Check back here for the Spring 2008 quiz coming soon.
