The "MISO Golden Baton Recognition Award" annually honors an outstanding member of
our community, and Judy Drucker's role in the South Florida cultural arts scene has been
exemplifed by the hundred of thousands of patrons proud of their community as a result of
her work. For over 40 years she has been a pioneer in the development of the arts by bringing
the world's greatest classical music soloists, orchestras and dance companies to our beloved
area, and has been internationally applauded for her personal and professional achievements.|
Drucker has presented the world's most eminent classical musicians in South Florida, including Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Zubin Mehta, Beverly Sills, Cecilia Bartoli and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, among others. She has also brought in many world renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops and the Israel Philharmonic, to name a few.
A musician herself, Drucker studied piano at the New York College of Music, and voice at The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music. She has performed on Broadway, at the Palm Island Latin Quarter in Miami and with the Greater Miami-Dade Opera (now the Florida Grand Opera). Among her many honors are a Doctor of Fine Arts, Honoris Causa, from International Fine Arts College, and Doctor of Music, Honoris Causa, from Florida International University.
By recognizing Judy Drucker, we are honoring a legacy that Miami will eternally be proud of, as she has been an integral part of the paradigm-changing arts "explosion" that Miami has been experiencing.
