The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO), now in its 24th season, is the cultural flagship of Miami, and one of the leading cultural organizations in South Florida.

 

With 80 professional musicians selected from the finest artists from around the world, MISO, represents the exceptional talent and diversity that mirrors this city’s own international and multicultural richness.

 

The orchestra's 2012/2013 Concert Season will comprise nine subscription programs to be performed at various venues across the city. In addition to the orchestra's concerts, its small ensembles provide educational outreach services to the Miami-Dade community as part of its educational mission.

 

Founded by Manuel Ochoa in 1989, since 2006, the baton has been in the hands of Eduardo Marturet, a Venezuelan composer and conductor acclaimed on three continents. Maestro Marturet envisions MISO as a world-class professional symphony anchored in Miami.

 

Currently, MISO receives grants from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and is designated a Major Cultural Organization. The Orchestra also receives grants from The Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, the State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
